It’s a thrill but with a lot to say about mental health and personal reflection and why people with the biggest grins might hide the biggest sadness.

JUST WANNA RIP OUT MY SKIN AND SMASH MY HEAD AGAINST A WALL-
In a society where we are constantly pushed to be more productive, skilful and self-sufficient, what does it mean to 'just be?'. Can we grow from a place of love and trust instead of shame and comparison?
Meet Sheryl with an ‘S’. Sheryl lives in Singapore, which also begins with an ‘S’. Life hasn’t been the smoothest for Sheryl, like for us all. No problemo.
Follow Sheryl on her quest to become as resilient and as versatile as Seaweed. Enter a world of moody projections, quirky presentations, satirical ads, and a lot of the 'weed' from the sea.
A Judges’ Picks and Nominated for Best in Theatre at Melbourne Fringe 2023, I Am Seaweed is a multimedia theatrical show that creates space for respite in an overwhelming world.
I Am Seaweed resonates with anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed or persistently pressured to keep striving for more, for better. It's an entertaining and good-humoured show that asks us to look inside ourselves and question why we do everything we do and if it's actually making us happy.
—Myron My, MyMelbourneArts
A joyous work featuring a stunning, off-the-charts-charming performance from Cheryl Ho. Bold, energised, achingly-human and super sharp

MASHH (Mm and SomethingHappens Here)
MASHH (Mm and Something Happens Here) is a collective created by award-winning Theatre Makers Cheryl Ho and Rachel Lee. MASHH blends design, text, and live performance with a style that is quirky, humorous, playful, and sincere. They explore new ideas, creative techniques and create original works.
The creators hope to grow the collective, utilising their roots in both Australia and Singapore to bring their work to a wider audience both locally and internationally.
WRITER/PERFORMER – CHERYL HO
Cheryl Ho is an award-winning Actor, Writer and Facilitator with a mission to bring care, creativity and inclusion into everyday spaces. She has worked with Australia's leading Theatre companies like Sydney Theatre Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Malthouse, and ActNow. In Singapore, she has worked with Artwave Studio, The Necessary Stage, The Arts House, Nine Years Theatre, Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, Rainbow Centre, Superhero Me, and more.
LIGHTING & PRODUCTION DESIGN – RACHEL LEE
Rachel is a lighting designer and artist with a design-led practice based in Naarm and Singapore. Rachel’s practice evolved out of her interest in how spaces are subjective through political, societal and economical lenses (and in turn, how light can transform these spaces).
DIRECTOR – TAN HUI ER
Tan Hui Er is a director. A founding member of alternative content channel, Not Safe For TV (@nsftv), she has also worked on films with agencies like Facebook, National Heritage Board, Singapore Film Commission, and POSB. Her theatre-making credits include works with Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay’s The Studios, The Second Breakfast Company, Bound Theatre, and Toy Factory. She finds cause in exploring the intersections between forms of storytelling, and believes that stories hold the power to compel change. She loves her dog, Koda.
SOUND DESIGN – VICK LOW
Vick is a sound designer/artist based in Singapore. He graduated from LASALLE College of the Arts in 2015, specialising in Music Technology. In 2019, he was nominated for Best Sound Design at The Straits Times Life Theatre Awards for The Watching (Toy Factory Productions). Some of his recent works include I Am Seaweed (MASHH), Immortal Variables (NineYears Theatre) and Do Rhinos Feel Their Horns? (Gangguan! Theatre), which was presented at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2023.
MULTIMEDIA ASSISTANT – RYAN CHOO
Ryan is a multidisciplinary creative passionate in branding, campaigns and the visual arts. A graduate from Singapore Polytechnic’s Media, Arts and Design School and an IMDA Gold Medallist, Ryan continues to explore fresh and exciting ways of image making and storytelling. He is currently an undergraduate at Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information, Nanyang Technological University.
PRODUCER – CORDELIA YEO
Growing up, Cordelia could never decide on one thing she would make a career out of. So she carved out her own detour through a one-track world: as a sportswoman, an economist, a chef in a cafe, as well as a media strategist. In that order, and sometimes all at once. As a true independent who also runs with the pack, she produces content across mediums and platforms for brands and personalities like Benjamin Kheng, Our Grandfather Story, Blue Coast Yachts, and The Ann & Ben Show.
